Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus

Introduction: I love the chorus “Turn your eyes upon Jesus”!

Look at the first stanza:
Please meditate on these great truths; and more importantly, let’s take heed to the message.

1. Why turn our eyes upon Jesus? Because we all get weary! (Isa 40:29-31) – “Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.”

Did you read that God does not grow weary? But we do. That is why we need His exchange!

“O soul are you weary and troubled
No light in the darkness you see
There’s light for a look at the Savior
And life more abundant and free
Turn your eyes upon Jesus
Look full in his wonderful face
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim
In the light of his glory and grace.”

But Isaiah also reminds believers that the God of the Bible “renews our strength”……as we “wait” upon Him.. (Isa 40:31).
Will you take time right now to wait upon Him?

2. Why turn our eyes upon Jesus? Because the Promises of His Word will not fail! (2Cor 1:20) – “For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.”

Listen to the next stanza:

“His word shall not fail you he promised
Believe him and all will be well
Then go to a world that is dying
His perfect salvation to tell
Turn your eyes upon Jesus
Look full in his wonderful face
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim
In the light of his glory and grace.”

Our God is faithful to His promises! He can be trusted!! Will you turn and trust Him right now?

3. Why turn our eyes upon Jesus? Because the things of this world will fade away! (1John 2:15-17) –

“Turn your eyes upon Jesus
Look full in his wonderful face
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim
In the light of his glory and grace.”

The world has nothing to offer us compared to Jesus. Think about it…..eternal life, abundant life, a new life!

Conclusion: Will you turn your eyes upon Jesus right now?

“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God” (Heb 12:1, 2).
