Settled from being Shaken

Introduction: It seems like people are on edge right now with the hurricanes heading to our shores, wars raging abroad and instability in the election upcoming. So how can we as God’s people remain unshaken? Although we cannot stop the upheaval events from happening, we can stand steadfast in our FAITH in Jesus!
Here is a wonderful passage relating to how to do that.
1. Where is our CONFIDENCE ? (Heb 10:35,36) – “Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.”
That’s it! When we lose our confidence in the sovereignty of a living God we are destined to be shaken. Are you being shaken?
2. What is it that we desperately need? (Heb 10:35,36) – “Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.”
Did you notice the little word “patience”? So easy to say, and yet it is so hard to exercise.
3. How can we be shaken? (Heb 12:26-28) – “Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven. And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain. Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear.”
When a strong wind blows, leaves fly off the tree. But unless it’s hurricane winds the root system of the tree will remain. Do you think that our Lord is allowing the strong winds (figuratively & literally) to blow to reveal that which is unshakable? Look what is unshakable in your life?
Conclusion: While we cannot escape from being shaken, we can stand securely in our trust in the Word
of God, our power from the Holy Spirit and hope in the coming of Jesus Christ.
