How To Pray for Israel

Introduction: Israel has been brutally attacked by the terrorist group called Hamas from the Gaza area near Egypt.

What can we do? Pray. But how? Here is how we can pray for Israel.

 1. Pray against the enemies of Israel! (Psa 83:1)

“Keep not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God. For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head. They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones. They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.”

There seems to be substantial evidence that Iran is supplying both financial and military support for one of its proxies called Hamas. Unfortunately, this includes the 6 BILLION dollars given by our U.S. government. So then, our prayers should include exposing deception, and bringing both confusion and frustration in the enemies camp.

2. Pray for God’s favor! (Psa 121:1-3)

“I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.”

Although history records God’s chastisement on Israel because of her disobedience, yet His irreversible promises to sustain her as a nation still remain. By the way, that assures every CHRISTian that Jesus Christ will keep His WORD! Do you know His promises?

3. Pray for America that we will stand for Israel! (Gen 12:1-3)

“Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee: And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.”

Clearly, the Lord will bless those nations that support Israel. May our leaders stand strongly behind the Jewish state of Israel. Do you agree?

4. Pray for the victims of the attack and their families! (Ezek 25:14)

“And I will lay my vengeance upon Edom by the hand of my people Israel: and they shall do in Edom according to mine anger and according to my fury; and they shall know my vengeance, saith the Lord GOD.”

Some Bible scholars identify the modern day Palestinians as descendants of Esau, thus called Edomites. Regardless of one’s interpretation, the God of the Bible will avenge His people because of His unconditional covenants He made with Abraham, David, and Israel. Are we obeying the Word of God?

5. Pray for the salvation of Israel! (Rom 10:1-3)

“Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved. For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.”

After traveling to Israel and witnessing to many Jews, sadly, this is their condition – blinded. But when Jesus comes back to the earth (not in the rapture) but as KING of the JEWS in His second coming many will “TURN and TRUST” in Him as their Messiah.

Zechariah wrote, “…and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him.”

Paul wrote, “For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery…..that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. And so all Israel shall be saved:”

Because Bible Prophecy has been fulfilled in the past and is being fulfilled in the present, this guarantees that this event will happen in the future.

Do you have a relationship with Jesus Christ? Have your sins been forgiven by the redeeming blood of Jesus?

Conclusion: The nation of Israel has been facing a time of unprecedented division much like America. Our enemies take advantage of these opportunities to attack during these times of vulnerability. America is not exempt.

Pray for the “PEACE of JERUSALEM.” Of course this will only be fulfilled when Jesus Christ comes in His second coming and sets up His millennium Kingdom here on earth.

“Thy kingdom come…”
