Winning the War Over Weariness
Text: Judges 6-8
Introduction: Did you have a good Thanksgiving? Food, family, fun, fellowship…..and fatigue! Check out defining moments in the life of Gideon.
- Gideon’s Call and Confirmation (Judges 6:11-24)
- Gideon’s Commander and Conquest (Judges 7)
- Gideon’s Crossing and Challenge (Judges 8:4)
- Gideon’s Compromise and Curse (Judges 8:27)
The Lord used an “ORDINARY” man named Gideon in an “EXTRAORDINARY” way because of these three (3) choices in his life. These unchanging principles in God’s economy are still in operation today for those who trust in Him. Will we trust Him today?
1. “TIRED” but TRAVELING on! (Judges 8:4)
“And Gideon came to Jordan, and passed over, he, and the three hundred men that were with him, faint, yet pursuing them.”
Personal Application:
You tired of being in debt?
You tired of being defeated by the world, the flesh, and the devil?
You tired of being down in the dumps?
2. “FATIGUED” but “FIGHTING” on! (Judges 8:4)
“And Gideon came to Jordan, and passed over, he, and the three hundred men that were with him, faint, yet pursuing them.”
Personal Application:
Drained by people
Drained by problems
Drained by stress and pressure
3. “WEARY” but “WIDE” open! (Judges 8:4)
“And Gideon came to Jordan, and passed over, he, and the three hundred men that were with him, faint, yet pursuing them.”
Personal Application:
Weary in a sin-sick world
Weary because of taking up and walking with a Cross
Weary because of an uncertain future
Conclusion: Serving the Lord these days is not EASY……but always REWARDING! Will we make GOOD CHOICES in order to be used by the Holy Spirit of God in an EXTRAORDINARY way? You may feel TIRED but keep TRAVELING on; You May feel FATIGUED but keep FIGHTING on; You May feel WEARY but keep going WIDE open….and when we do, we will WIN the WAR over WEARINESS!
God grant it, in Jesus’ name!
Love y’all,
