The Kingdom is Coming
Introduction: Jesus prayed in that model prayer, “Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.”
What did He mean by “Thy Kingdom come”? Consider with me a brief study on “The Kingdom to Come.”
1. Satan will be bound for 1,000 years! (Rev 20:1-3)
“1And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. 2And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, 3And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.”
Notice one angel will throw the devil into the “bottomless pit.”
2. Martyred saints who did not worship the beast or take his image will be resurrected to rule and reign with Jesus! (Rev 20:4)
“And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.”
3. At the end of the millennium, Satan will be loosed out of the abyss to go out and deceive the nations, only to meet his demise! (Rev 20:7-10)
“And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, 8And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. 9And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them. 10And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.”
4. What role will Jesus Christ play?
* Jesus will be called the BRANCH! (Isa 4:2;11:1; Jer 23:5;33:15; Zech 3:8-9; 6:12,13)
* Jesus will be called the LORD of HOSTS! (Isa 24:23; 44:6)
* Jesus will be called the ANCIENT of DAYS! (Dan 7:23)
* Jesus will be called the LORD!(Micah 4:7; Zech 14:9)
* Jesus will be called JEHOVAH! (Isa 2:2-4;7:14;9:6;Jer 3:17; 23:5,6; Ezek 43:5-7; 44:1,2; Joel 3:21)
* Jesus will be called the rod of Jesse! (11:1, 11)
* Jesus will be called the Son of Man! (Dan 7:13)
* Jesus will be called King! (11:1-10; 33:17,22; 44:6; Dan 2:44; Obadiah 17-21; Micah 4:1-8; Zech 3:9-10; 14:16-17)
Wow! What a Time! When Jesus Christ’s Kingdom Comes!
Not only will there be “PEACE in the VALLEY,” but there will be the “PRINCE of PEACE” ruling and reigning on His throne in Jerusalem! Animals will be in perfect harmony. The wolf, leopard, and the young lion will all eat lunch with the cow, lamb, and other animals – not eat them for lunch….but peacefully.
No more floods, tornadoes, droughts, earthquakes or poisonous snakes! This is what every believer in the living God have to look forward to. Now you see why we ought to pray, “Thy kingdom Come”!
