Looking Down the Road of Consequences

Introduction: The devil never tells us the consequences of sin. Rather, he paints a picture of happiness, but a WISE man or woman knows that there is the principle of “sowing and reaping.” Please consider the repercussions of our decisions, whether it is good or bad.

1. Solomon wrote twice:

“A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself; but the simple pass on, and are punished.” (Prov 27:12; 22:3)

Instant gratification gets us in trouble. But isn’t that what we are faced with daily. Lottery…instant riches and wealth.

Remember what Paul writes to his son in the Lord, Timothy.

“But godliness with contentment is great gain. 7For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. 8And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. 9But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. 10For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.” (1Tim 6:6-10)

Sexual pleasure….instant lustful gratification. Remember what Solomon writes:

“To keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman. 25Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids. 26For by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread: and the adulteress will hunt for the precious life. 27Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned? 28Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned? 29So he that goeth in to his neighbour’s wife; whosoever toucheth her shall not be innocent.” (Prov 6:24-29)

These verses should be a “GUARD” on our hearts because of the temptations from the devil, and the lusts of the flesh.

2. Solomon wrote:

“Good understanding giveth favour: but the way of transgressors is hard.” (Prov 15:13)

There’s pleasure in sin, but only for a season! Sin thrills! And then sin KILLS!

3. Paul wrote:

“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. 8For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.” (Gal 6:7,8)

This works both ways. Instead of sowing seeds to the flesh, we can sow seeds in the Spirit. If so, then we can expect a harvest.

Conclusion: What kind of decisions do you need to make today? Pray much over them. And do not forget the consequences of your choices.
